We drive from Plymouth to Portsmouth on Friday where we’ll catch the overnight ferry to St Malo which leaves at 2015. A cabin is provided.
On arrival in France on Saturday at 0815 we travel out of town and across the Rance Dam, the first tidal hydroelectric scheme in the World, and thus to the charming coastal resort of Dinard. It's market day in the town and afterwards you can enjoy a stroll along the beach and coastal footpath.
In the late morning we re-cross the Rance Dam where it is possible to descend to the viewing room where you can observe the large turbines at work. We now continue into St Malo and spend time at a local hypermarket to acquire those essential supplies, especially with Christmas in mind.
Finally we drive to St Malo's main attraction, Ville Enclos - the Old Walled Town, where we spend our final hours in France. Our overnight sailing leaves at 2030 and a cabin is once again provided for the overnight crossing .
We’ll reach Portsmouth at 0745 on Sunday morning then will drive back to the West.
