Travel documentation

Please read through the advice for the entry to Spain (and Portugal) carefully and thoroughly  and take note of what documentation you need to bring with you when you arrive at the port. You will not be able to travel if you do not have the correct documentation. We'll help as much as we can but ultimately it is your resposibilty to get this right.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION TO ENTER FRANCE

If you’re fully vaccinated and travelling from the UK, at least 14 days must have passed since being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) before arrival in France. Your date(s) of vaccination must be specified and your final dose must have been administered within 270 days prior to travel.

If you completed your vaccination (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) more than 270 days prior to travel, you must be able to show proof of having received a booster jab.
You can do so by downloading the NHS app and getting a QR code proving your vaccination status. If you are unable to do this then you can phone 119 and request a paper copy of your vaccination status. There is more information about this here. Please note that only the NHS COVID Pass will be accepted as proof of full vaccination status.

You may wish to download the TousAntiCovid app and scan in your NHS QR code to prove your vaccination status.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION TO ENTER SPAIN

If you’re fully vaccinated and travelling from the UK, you can enter Spain without needing to test or quarantine regardless of your reason for travel. Your vaccination status must meet the Spanish authorities’ validity period requirements:

From 1 February onwards, at least 14 days must have passed since being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) before arrival in Spain. Your date(s) of vaccination must be specified and your final dose must have been administered within 270 days prior to travel to Spain. If you completed your vaccination (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) more than 270 days prior to travel to Spain, you must be able to show proof of having receiving a booster jab.
Show a certificate to prove your vaccination status. You can do so using the NHS app, or you can visit the NHS website and register to access your status online. You will then be able to download and print a Pdf document. You can find more information about this at www.gov.uk.

Children under the age of 12 years, and freight drivers, are exempt from these requirements.

Please note that many areas of Spain now demand proof of vaccination to enter a bar or restaurant. You will be able to prove your vaccination status using the NHS app. For more information visit rtve.es

These measures are irksome but sadly they are the new norm of travel and if you want to go abroad there’s no other choice. Take your time and read everything carefully and you’ll find that things will go smoothly and – most importantly- it’s free!

You can only complete these forms yourself and you need to appreciate that if you don’t complete them correctly and turn up at the Port without the required documentation you will not be permitted to board the ship. There will be no refund.

We expect that in due course the procedure will be simplified so keep a lookout on www. Brittany-Ferries.co.uk for the very latest information under their Covid section.
